It's the return of the summer Dubcast and 11W's own Johnny Ginter are back. It's been a month since you last heard us, and they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder. We'll gladly test that theory.

We start out by talking about the Big Ten's schedule for 2014, which was recently released. We scoff at Wisconsin's ease of schedule and we spend a lot of words talking about Rutgers and Ohio State's non-conference foes.

We also touch on a potential new B1G-ACC bowl game in...Detroit? Other topics for discussion include pre-season watch lists and polls, and whether or not we should care about non-revenue sports.

But the big news is that former Ohio State defensive lineman Quinn Pitcock drops by the Dubcast to discuss his NFL Draft experience, playing for the Colts, his depression-fueled video game addiction, arena football with the Orlando Predators, and more! Keep in mind, you're getting all this entertainment completely gratis.

In our Ask Us Anything segment, Johnny and I try to figure out the whole Game of Thrones thing, relative to college football. Spoiler: we fail miserably. Don't forget, the Dubcast is in the midst of its Summer schedule, meaning you'll hear from us next in June. The good news there is every time there is a new Dubcast, you're one month closer to the off-season's end! But by all means, please keep sending us your questions! You can do so at elevendubcast@gmail.com.

The Tough Get Tougher

This Dubcast is mostly about Ohio State football, goofy listener questions, and a fun interview. I mean, that's more or less what it always is, but this time I thought it'd be appropriate to step back and offer a few of our thoughts on what happened in Boston on Monday.

Helping me parse through such a tough subject is our own Michael Citro, and truthfully I feel a little awkward giving my opinion on the events because being a sports writer doesn't necessarily mean that I'm qualified to speak about something that's really only tangentially related to sports in the grand scheme of things.

Still, it's a big issue, and brings to mind many of the same feelings that we had about sports after 9/11, and because of that I'm glad that Michael and I were able to parse through some of our thoughts and feelings about the general meaning of sports and how we think people should handle these types of events going forward.

To help us out is Doug Lesmerises of the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com, who gives his take on the attacks and, of course, his opinion on Ohio State spring football. After all, it's fun, it's what we do, and we'll be dammed if we're going to not enjoy the things that help keep us sane and bring us together in a tough world.

Speaking of which, Ask Us Anything leaps out of the gate who two awesome questions. The Dubcast is starting its Summer schedule, meaning you'll only be hearing from Michael and I once a month until football ramps up again, but that doesn't mean you should stop sending us your questions! Go ahead and do so at elevendubcast@gmail.com.

And that about wraps season 3 up! Thanks so much for listening; it's been a lot of fun making these for you guys, and we hope you'll stick with us through the summer and beyond.

Only time. And only time will tell if Ohio State's Elite Eight loss to the Wichita State Shockers will help propel them to even greater heights next season. All we know now is that losing pretty much sucks, especially when you're so close to the Final Four that you can taste it (assuming that Final Fours have a taste. I like to think they do, kind of like a sweet jerky).

To help Sarah and I work through our grief is one Rob Oller of the Columbus Dispatch, who offers us no false sense of hope or optimism on our way to the depths of the postseason; the shortcomings of the 2012-2013 Buckeyes are now laid bare, and Oller minces no words when talking about them.

Still though, I am pretty optimistic about next season, and Sarah and I find that nugget of gold in the mountain of sad, sad tears. Also Ask Us Anything (which you can do by sending us an e-mail at elevendubcast@gmail.com)!

We got a ton of great questions this week, so keep em coming, because this train ain't derailed yet: the spring game awaits. See you next time!

BATTLEFIELD: LOS ANGELES becomes a reality for our boys in scarlet and gray as we head on out to LA for the weekend to meet our fate.

But let's rewind a little bit. Thad Matta and company completely destroyed Iona and squeaked past Iowa State, both games that were fun for different reasons. Between the Sam Thompson dunkings and Aaron Craft being the rusty exhaust pipe through the torso of every wannabe Bennett out there in the tournament.

So that's what Sarah and I are grinding on this week, with also a look at our brackets (which are mostly in shambles) and the upcoming Arizona game, as we're joined by Patrick Finley of the Arizona Daily Star, who we were able to pull away from sipping mai tais at the pool bar and talk a little Arizona basketball with us.

And, as per usual, we're doing Ask Us Anything! You can truly (madly, deeply) ask us anything by sending us an e-mail to elevendubcast@gmail.com. We got a lot of excellent questions this week, so keep 'em coming!

And that'll about wrap it up for this week, see you next week when we're either celebrating a massive win with confetti and streamers and cake, or bemoaning our devastating loss by refusing to eat naught but steamed brussels sprouts and lukewarm water. So either way: very tasty.

Plus, our very own Chad Peltier decides to take the plunge and rock the Dubcast for the first time ever, discussing an in-pads version of spring football with us, breaking down the team by position and class. For a first timer, Chad did a pretty awesome job, so be sure to check that out.

Oh, I'm sorry, did you think I meant the NCAA tourney Or maybe the Big Ten? No, no, no. The most hated college basketball player tourney, going on over at Grantland right now. I mean, yeah, I guess those are "important" in the sense that the "mean things" and are "prestigious" and people "care about them," but let's be real: who wouldn't want to see Aaron Craft cut down the nets as one of the most disliked dudes in NCAA history? (Everyone not insane/me)

Here's where the apologetic part comes in. Diamond Leung, the excellent Michigan State beat writer for mlive.com came on and gave us a great interview this week. Hooray, so far so good. Then my computer promptly corrupted the audio. Boooo. We'll try and have him back next week to break down the Big Ten tourney, but that's why this week is more than a little disjointed.

In any event, we still hit on all the major topics du jour, and Ask Us Anything (which you can do at elevendubcast@gmail.com) rolls on with a unique question that we answer in our typically weird way.

In any event, we still hit on all the major topics du jour, and Ask Us Anything (which you can do at elevendubcast@gmail.com) rolls on with a unique question that we answer in our typically weird way.</itunes:summary>

Yes, we won the game (which we break down in glorious detail), but our OSU media bros lost in that they were forced to wait around until 1:37 in the morning to get disinterested quotes from a coach who apparently couldn't be bothered in the roughly two hours after senior day ceremonies.

Oh also, a gigantic snowstorm was blowing through, forcing many OSU media members, including our own Kyle Rowland (who we interviewed last night), to stay overnight in Bloomington and then rush to Columbus in the morning to cover the football team.

Point is: Tom Crean is a gigantic egotistical baby who owes these guys an apology for acting like an ass every time he gets outcoached and loses a game, like he did on Tuesday.

I think at this point we might as well just accept the fact that Ohio State basketball, like much of life, is an emotional roller coaster with little rhyme or reason. One week you're getting your heart ripped out by Wisconsin and Bo Ryan's smug douche face, and the next week you're inexplicably beating one of the best teams in the country into a bloody pulp.

To help us parse through this wild, weird world that Thad Matta has constructed for us, we bring on 97.1 The Fan's Lori Schmidt to talk a little shooty hoops with us. In addition to being a crackerjack reporter, Lori is also a basketball official, so herein you shall learn the secrets of just how Aaron Craft is able to infuriate the opposition without committing fouls (hint: it involves dark magics unseen before human eyes).

Start near the top, get knocked down a few pegs, claw your way up top again, get knocked even further down, and now all of a sudden people are wondering if you even have it in you to beat Northwestern on the road.

That kind of sucks, but the truth of the matter is that losing three out of four when two out of those three were to some of the best teams in the country isn't ALL bad. Still, OFFICIAL TURNAROUND 2.0 starts tonight against Minnesota, and to help us illuminate that subject, we've brought on beat writer Amelia Rayno from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

And let's put it this way: three out of four sucks, but seven out of ten is way, way worse. Tubby runnin'. Also we get into our sadly mostly empty Ask Us Anything bag (fill it up at elevendubcast@gmail.com!), and then debate some of the news du jour.

At least, that's how things usually go in the offseason, as we find ourselves staring into the abyss of no football for the next seven months or so.

But fear not! Because with Urban and company running the show, it seems a lot more likely that we'll be hip-deep in enough ridiculousness to keep us sustained until August.

Since Sarah unfortunately was a little indisposed this week, we've brought in our very own Michael Citro, who was kind enough to fill in for her on short notice. Michael already has a radio background, and did a great job for his first time out with the Dubcast (I secretly seethe at his natural ease and grace with the mic, but don't tell him)

Anyway, Beau Bishop! The 10TV sports anchor and 97.1 radio host graciously came on to our fly by night operation to talk a little Ohio State, Urban Meyer, and overall Big Ten rebranding, and as you might expect, he was amazing. I'm always impressed by guys like Beau Bishop, Doug Lesmerises, and Tim May; they were clearly born to do their line of work and it's kind of awesome to watch them do it with such a high level of enthusiasm.

And of course our Ask Us Anything (which you can do by e-mailing us at elevendubcast@gmail.com) segment, where Michael and I tell someone where they're going for their summer vacation. Seriously.

All in all, a pretty fun Dubcast, so check it out!

We got pretty much everything that we could've possibly wanted, and though reducing a human being to the status of an item is more than a little creepy, screw it: PRESENTS EVERYWHERE!!! Vonn Bell, Ezekiel Elliott, and a whole bunch of other dudes made yesterday an awesome testament to the recruiting prowess that is Urban Meyer and his coaching staff.

So that's why we brought on Alex again this week. We don't normally double dip on guests, but since this is a special instance (and Alex is awesome), we decided to let it slide. He brings us all of the prime signing day info, and we even look ahead to 2014 a little bit.

Of course, we still leave room for OSU/Michigan b-ball discussion, and also go over our Ask Us Anything questions for the week. We got some great stuff in the past seven days, including some adorable doggy pictures, so if you want to join in on the action, send us an e-mail at elevendubcast@gmail.com.

Oh sure, we do the cursory browsing of player names, look up areas of need, stalk and harass their friends and family (you know, normal stuff), but in truth we just don't have the expertise that our very own Alex Gleitman has on the subject.

So that's why we brought him on today to talk some recruiting! Who's looking good, sleepers, drama, sneaks, underhanded deals, and pretty much everything else that makes for a good Gilmore Girls episode/recruiting class is all contained herein.

If you want to know what Ezekiel Elliot is up to, Alex's potential sleeper picks for greatness, what the commitment of Damon Webb means for the program, and anything else about the class of 2013, check it out. It's twenty minutes of great recruiting information, and for anyone following the process, I can't recommend it enough.

And if that weren't enough, we also have two excellent Ask Us Anything questions (where you can ask us anything at elevendubcast@gmail.com), one involving b-ball lineups where Sam Thompson makes me look like a chump and another one involving dogs in sweaters. Also we touch on Sarah's extreme dislike of frogs, opening the door for a Maury-esque live episode where I read "Frog and Toad are Friends" to my terrified cohost. YOU WILL LIVE A NORMAL LIFE, SARAH. WELL NOT US! Sarah and I are plowing full steam ahead into the abyss that is the darkest, coldest part of the year, comforting ourselves with the Big Tenniest basketball that there ever was. We talk a little about the basketball team's victory over Iowa (which was... uh, interesting? I guess. If I'm being generous) and then move on to talk a little Penn State basketball with Ben Jones from StateCollege.com.

Ben, of course, is one of the most well known and talented PSU writers out there, and it's honestly pretty cool to get his take on where the basketball team stands in general right now, and how Patrick Chambers plans to pull them out of the basement of the Big Ten. Also, we touch on the Joe Paterno vigil that was last night because, well, we're interviewing Ben Jones. It's almost like we have to.

Also Ask Us Anything! And I gotta say: we were a little short on questions this week, so any weird thing about Ohio State sports or anything else you can think of to ask, send that question on over to elevendubcast@gmail.com.

<itunes:summary>We're in the middle of basketball season, and for some, that may entail the doldrums of winter, the sadness of no college football for months, or the slow realization that you have put on 15 pounds over the holidays and have no real intention of doing anything about it.

Also also: Night Court.</itunes:summary>

So today Sarah and I are pleased to announce that Mr. Boren decided to come on the Dubcast and talk a little about what makes up that delicious stew we call college football. Zach answered everything that we threw at him with gusto, including:

- What was behind the critical decision to move him to linebacker in the middle of the season
- How he's preparing for the NFL combine, and what his prospects for the future are
- What it was like playing under three different head coaches during his college career
- Why Millionaire Matchmaker is the greatest show on television

The interview is a lot of fun, so you should definitely check it out. Sarah and I also get into making fun of Michigan for failing to beat a top 15 team on the road, but since it's Ohio State we'll ignore that and laugh anyway. Also recruiting news and Ask Us Anything (elevendubcast@gmail.com), so all in all, we're talking about a pretty packed 42 minutes or so! Enjoy.

"Is there a 'best' Rob Schneider movie?" "What's the deal with the Ohio State's offense in b-ball right now?" And of course, "How much inner rage did Urban Meyer have to suppress while standing on the sideline of the BCS Championship game?

To help us answer at least one of those questions, and to gauge the Michigan game matchup this coming weekend, we've brought on Daniel Wasserman. Daniel works the basketball beat for the UM student newspaper, the Michigan Daily, and while he does an admirable job at being both professional and informative I can't resist a Brady Hoke crack at the end of the interview. Sorry (not sorry).

Also Ask Us Anything (which you can do at elevendubcast@gmail.com)! This week Sarah and I decide how we would ruin each others lives in a Freaky Friday type of situation, and also try and determine the worst BCS bowl game this year. Neither of which are particularly difficult questions.
